As stated before, the network infrastructure of IHS is of an outstanding quality and can only be compared with today’s top of the hosting market segment. The IHS network consists of the best hardware and software available. Every aspect of the network is redundant. The main router configuration consists of the best Juniper (m-series) and Cisco routers (Cisco 7600-S), Extreme networks switches, customized high performance multi redundant firewalls, all connected with not less than 7 carriers Cogent Communications, Verizon Business / MCI, Level3 Communications, FreeBIX, AMS-IX, ProXimity and eXpress due to which we are able to provide a backbone of 10gigabit/s. The IHS hardware is located in Minkels cold corridor racks, a unique concept consisting of innovating sealed racks to provide the best cooling capacity possible. The system is based on the principle of complete separation of hot and cold air flows which leads to significant efficiency improvements. This is achieved by enclosing the roof section between opposing cabinets on the cold aisle with glass panels. Both ends of the cold aisle are sealed off using sliding doors to contain the air. In addition all cabinets are fitted with side skirts and blanking panels between the equipment, in this way the only route for the air is through the equipment. The cabinets are now considered to be an extension of the floor void and the room is now the hot aisle. The advantages are quite clear. The temperature between the bottom and top of the rack is now quite constant. Furthermore, continuously updating and renewing hardware and software to provide the best environment possible is one of the big main goals of Inter Host Solutions.
